The Dream Series
44 CommentsAre you a dreamer? Do you have a dream? What does your dream house look like? How about your dream car? Do you have a dream vacation spot? Maybe a dream job? In these challenging times, many of those dreams have been dashed, abandoned, fallen between the cracks and instantaneously put on hold. For the next several weeks, we want to take you on a course called “The Dream Series”! More important than any of the dreams mentioned above, we will discuss and discover how to live your “Dream Life”!
Jesus tells us in John 10:10 that He came to give us life, and that we might have it to the full. In other words, He came to give us “The Dream Life”! Contrary to what many of us have been taught, this life is not only promised to the elite, the rich, the sophisticated or anyone else who the media tells us is deserving of it. It is for anyone who dares to “Dream”!
What about you? Will you dream again? Don’t settle for less! Receive the best of what God has already promised to anyone who will believe. In the words of James Dean; “Dream as if you’ll live forever, live as if you’ll die today!”
Go
38 CommentsSmall word, BIG task! We hear it everyday. Your instincts kick in as soon as you see that green light. And when the light turns red, it’s all you want to do. It flows so naturally from your lips. Go and do this. Go and get me that. Go and tell so and so that this is what I need! I think you get the point! But when the rubber meets the road, what does your life look like? Is “GO” just a part of your vocabulary or is it a daily reality?
Jesus commanded his disciples on various occasions to “GO”! Whether you hear Him or not, He has commissioned us to do the same. “I’ve got a lot on my plate right now”, you might say. “I’ve got my own issues to deal with”, you’re thinking. “I’m afraid that I won’t know what to say or do”! Jesus promises us in Matthew 28:20 that if we GO, He would be with us always, even unto the end of the age. Remember, the promise is for those who will GO!
3 Steps to “GOing”
By FAITH! 2 Corinthians 5:7 says, “For we walk by faith and not by sight”. Faith will keep you “GOING” even when you want to stop. The person you’ve been praying for seems beyond reach. Your marriage is in disarray and everyday it’s getting worse. Depression is caving in and your world is falling apart. That addiction haunts you continually. Run your race! Keep moving forward! Don’t stop believing. Fight the good fight with the Word of God! The battle belongs to the Lord! Your redemption is nearer than you think. God rewards those who GO by FAITH! (Hebrews 11:6)
With HOPE! Romans 15:13; “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit”. The hope we have in Jesus is what the world so desperately needs. It’s hope that keeps us running the race even when we’re tired and desperate. The devil can do whatever he wants but as long as you hold on to HOPE, you can finish your race strong! Isaiah 40:31 encourages us with this, “But those who hope in the Lord will get fresh strength. They spread their wings and soar like eagles. They run and don’t get tired, they walk and don’t lag behind”! (Message Bible) GO with HOPE! (Romans 5:5)
In LOVE! 1 Corinthians 13:13 tell us that out of Faith, Hope and Love, the greatest is Love. It is God’s love that can save anyone who repents and receives Him. (John 3:16) It is God’s love that draws them. It is LOVE that caused Him to give his only son, the King of kings, and Lord of lords to hang on a cross and die so that we could run without having to look over our shoulder. As you GO, let LOVE be your compass. Let it be your guide. Don’t hold LOVE back. It will only grow to the measure you sow! As Fred Hammond soulfully sang, “Love isn’t love, until you’ve given it away! GO in LOVE! (1 Corinthians 13:1-8)
Get Set!
34 CommentsWhere are you at? Do you feel like you’re being thrown in every direction? Are you upside- down, turned around, wondering when this merry-go-round called life will stop? News flash…..it doesn’t stop! In the words of Phil Collins, “That’s just the way it is”!
It is so crucial that you implement the next step as you run this “Amazing Race”! You’ve started! You’re “on your mark”! Now it is time to “GET SET”! Steady yourself! Get entrenched! Make a decision then stay the course! Colossians 3:2 instructs us to “Set our minds on things above and not on earthly things”! You can’t control the wind, but you can “set” your sail. You can’t predict the future but you can “set” your mind on the one who knows everything! “Well, I’m already set in my ways. You can’t teach old dogs new tricks”. First, you are not a dog. Second, these are not tricks. They are God’s promises that will “set” you free!
To set your mind on things above means to establish a “God” perspective on life. He sees things so differently than we do. Isaiah 55:6-9 tells us to seek the Lord while he’s here to be found. His ways and thoughts are so much higher than ours. In verse 7 it says that the wicked must abandon their way of life and the evil their way of thinking. This means that God wants us to start thinking like He thinks. We must say farewell to our old ways and start doing things His way! 1 Corinthians 2:16 says that we have the mind of Christ. How does Jesus think? That’s how we’ve gotta start thinking. How did Jesus live? That’s how we’ve gotta start living.
How is this possible you might ask? Philippians 4:13; “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”! How about that? If Jesus lives in you, you can do whatever you “set” your mind to. Remember, you now have the mind of Christ, His word is in you, you’re living a new way, your thoughts are becoming like His. No more selfish, self-centered, insecure, self-serving ambitions. You are now running for God’s glory. You’re living your life for His purposes. Whatever you may be facing today, keep running to God. He is the beginner and finisher of our faith! Until Next week……..
! Set for the Race
On Your Mark

Philippians 3:12-14: So let’s keep focused on that goal, those of us who want everything God has for us. If any of you have something else in mind, something less than total commitment, God will clear your blurred vision—you’ll see it yet! Now that we’re on the right track, let’s stay on it. Stick with me friend. Keep track of those you see running this same course, headed for this same goal. (The Message)
In every race, there is a starting line. It is important for each runner to find their mark. I remember watching a specific race on television and one of the runners mistakenly tried to line up in the wrong lane. Obviously the race didn’t start until he found “his mark”. Have you found “YOUR” mark?
With the world’s population of almost six and a half billion, no two people have the same fingerprints. Not even identical twins. Yet another example of how special we are to God. We are the apple of His eye. He delicately designed each of us in His own image and yet blessed us with unique traits. What an amazing God! There is only one of you! There is nobody else like you! Celebrate your uniqueness. God has a perfect plan….. Just for you! Jeremiah 29:11 tells us of those plans. He wants to give you hope, a future and prosperity. He wants your race to go well! It doesn’t matter who you are or what you’ve done. You can learn from the past but you don’t have to live in it.
I remember hearing at a young age, “You can be anything you want to be”! That is not true. Each of us has individual God-given strengths. We must recognize what those are and allow God to mold us as we serve Him. Still, it is up to you to make the right choices. You have to get on “YOUR” mark. You have to decide if you’ll submit to God and His word. You have to be disciplined to run, to stay in the race and to finish the course. It will not always be easy. Sometimes you’ll have to run uphill. Sometimes the course may seem lonely. At times, you might be running and not see what’s around the corner. There will be hurdles trying to trip you up. Don’t be discouraged. Don’t give up! God promises us in Hebrews 13:5 that He would never leave us or forsake us.
Our nephew Tavita Pritchard is the quarterback for the University of Stanford. Two years ago he led the Cardinals to a made-for-Hollywood win over then #1 USC Trojans. It was a story for the ages. Some called it the biggest upset in college football history. As I watched Tavita being interviewed shortly after the game, I was so proud of him. Someone from ESPN asked him, “What were you thinking out there?” “What were you doing?” Tavita responded, “We just do what we do?” In essence, that’s what God asks of you and me. You do you! Let me do me!
Find “YOUR” mark! Stay focused on the goal. Run your race with faith and discipline. Encourage those you see running this same course. Remember, God who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it.
Until next week,
Faith for the Race!
