Summer Is Heating Up!

smokies

We just got back from a couple of days at an Indoor/Outdoor water park resort (Wilderness at the Smokies) with our families. Let’s just say we had a WET time and as usual, none of the kids wanted to return home. One of the many highlights was witnessing a 4 yr old Katina (Boston), face his fears as he rode the wave machine at the “Flow Rider”. He absolutely rocked the house and needless to say, Jesse was a proud Daddy. Just as entertaining, was watching a few of the K5 dads take to the very same waves and wipe out completely. Thankfully those images were not captured, at least we hope not.

Now it’s your turn. WE’D LIKE TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR MOST MEMORABLE SUMMER VACATION. READY…BEGIN.

Good times! Those indoor/outdoor waterparks are great. Especially with the crazy weather we’ve been having this summer. Glad you’re getting to spend some time having fun with your families.

Did somebody say “WATER”? Why wasn’t I invited? Looks like all had a great time without me…sad face….so this is what happens while I’m at work, huh?
My most fondest summer memories are when my cousins from San Francisco came over and spent the whole summer w/us. There were 3 boys and my sister and I. We did everything! Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm, swimming, skate boarding, bike rideing, fishing at the park, movie nights! We enjoyed lighting fireworks and running down the street with sparklers in each hand. We ate ice cream and got sick together. We teased each other and got made at each other, laughed together, got my dad made at us for doing stupid things when we knew he was tired. Just for those summers I got a taste of what it was like to have a big family. When my cousins were 16, 14, and 9, their mom got into a tragic car accident and passed away. There were no more fun summers, just memories. The boys dad sent them to live with their cousin from his side of the family. They grew up and made surprise visits every once in a while. Now they rearly come. Just memories remain, good ones!

I’m glad all of you and your families had fun at the waterpark.

My best summer vacation was when my family went to Orlando, Fla. for my 9th or 10th birthday(I can’t remember which one). My parents decided to drive and I know they must’ve had incredible patience because the WHOLE way down(which was about an 8 hr drive) we (me and my cousin) would ask every so often “Are we there yet?”. I know there had to have been times when they just wanted to stop by the side of the road and let us out, but they didn’t because they knew how excited we were about going to Disney World for the first time.I can’t tell you how much fun it was to go on all the rides at the different amusement parks. Then once we got back to the hotel from a long day of sightseeing, me and my cousin would stay up late and talk and play games. We still take trips every once in a while (vacations, family reunions), but nothing will compare to that trip.

Im glad to see that you guys and your families got to unwind a little together in the wild! Those water parks are fun.
    My most memorable summer vaca?
I guess it was the time that Jake, Patricia, Derek and I went to Hawaii and then to Samoa. Out of the country, I’d only been to Jamaica. I like to keep my feet planted on the dirt and not really liking to fly, those long flights were stressful. When I saw ALL of the luggage/TVs/furniture/food/people/etc…on the flight from HNL to PPG, my knuckles were white the whole way. No matter how much Dramamine I took, I still stressed the whole way thinking about the weight and balance of the aircraft! It was FULL of people and stuff! We even upgraded to first class thinking that I might relax a little bit, but no use. The King of Tonga was on our flight, too.
On our overnight in Hawaii, the valet at the hotel (HHV) crashed our car rental and I spent time ‘talking’ to the hotel about that issue. Then…umm…where was my passport? In VA. Luckily, Jake was able to call someone in DC, who told them to let me in…lol. Issues…
But when we arrived into PPG…a beautiful sight…

This summer has been full of blessings for our family……… from Chris my husband connecting with a sister he hasn’t seen or heard from in 43 years, getting a post on facebook from a bro that he has Never met, spending time with my Grandmothers in Indiana (who are 84 and 90!), and finding out that our oldest daughter is going to be mother– making us very young grandparents :) Besides having a personal relationship with Jesus, there is nothing more precious than connecting and sharing precious moments with family and friends … God Bless !
PS– heard that our extended Katina family is coming to the ROCK on Sunday. Can’t wait to fellowship with all of you. Love, The Thomsen Family– Chris, Michele, Dana, Eric, Mark, and Jami
