KATINAS HONORED BY GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS FOR HUMANITARIAN WORK
1 CommentNashville, TN – December 7, 2009 – Instilling hope to the people of their homeland, Samoa, was the goal of the Katinas these past few weeks.
During a press conference held at the Gear Up Office at the American Samoa Community College campus, Evelyn Vaitautolu-Langford, Governor’s Authorized Representative opened the press conference by welcoming the media, noting that the Katinas are here to aid in relief efforts.
The five brothers visited several high schools to deliver their message of H-O-P-E (Helping Other People Escape) by performing free concerts and hands on relief to the devastated areas. In a recent interview, James and Jesse Katina had this to say “The support has been amazing, we believe there is hope for Samoa. People tuned in from all over the world, even people who have never been to Samoa. There has been an outpouring of love and support. We are proud to be Samoan and here to deliver this message.”
The Katinas wanting to express their gratitude to their ministry supporters all over the world filmed a video as a special thanks from them and the people of Samoa. Watch the video here.
Talofa (Hello) From Samoa!
5 CommentsTalofa (Hello) from Samoa! Finally, we made it to Samoa for the much anticipated Katina Missions trip, and we have certainly seen God’s hand at work here in the islands. We have arrived in American Samoa and have even visited the neighboring island nation of Western Samoa, where the tsunami hit especially hard. The Katinas have distributed food, shelter kits, household kits to affected families, and have contributed monetarily to the efforts of Samaritan’s Purse and Kelly Duininck Ministries (RHEMA) as well. The Samoan people were very grateful for the provisions, but we understand that this is a going to be a long-term recovery process.
Besides delivering much needed supplies, last night we held a much anticipated outreach concert in American Samoa, bringing the message of “Hope For Samoa” to our people. It was received with enthusiasm and gratitude! Tonight will be a concert angled toward the youth of Samoa, in an effort to inspire even after such devastation. We could tell from last night’s concert that joy has begun to emerge after such a time of sorrow.
The Katinas and Katina Missions would like to thank EVERY PERSON and EVERY ORGANIZATION who has given so generously to this disaster relief. Thank you for helping us at Katina Missions reach our island nation with the love of Jesus Christ. Fa’afetai tele! -The Katinas

Devastation {Our beloved island of American Samoa gets hit by tsunami}
As many of you may or may not know, American Samoa and Samoa were devastated by an earthquake and tsnuami around 7am local time on September 29, 2009 . Facts are still coming in but there are now reports of over 80 dead and dozens more missing with entire villages flattened. For the past nine months we have been planning our third annual missions trip back to Samoa for this coming November. It is very clear to us now what our mission is.
We have received many calls, texts and emails asking how to help. A relief fund is currently being set up through www.katinamissions.org
CLICK on “Missions” at the top of this page to donate. All donations small or large, are tax deductible.
Thank you for standing with us. Please continue to pray for Samoa
